XML Schema for the discovery-configuration.xml
configuration file. Version: $Id$.
Top-level element for the discovery-configuration.xml
configuration file.
The addresses to be polled. NOTE: specifics and URLs
override excludes, ie. if an address is in an exclude range but
also either a specific address or specified in an URL, it will be
polled.
the specific addresses to be polled
the range of addresses to be polled
the range of addresses to be excluded from the
polling
a file URL holding specific addresses to be
polled
a file URL holding specific addresses to be excluded
Definition of specifics, ranges of IP Addresses and detectors
which would use the detectors for discovery
The monitoring location where this discovery configuration
will be executed.
The total number of ping packets sent per second from
OpenNMS for discovery
The initial pause (in milliseconds) after discovery
starts up before discovery is started.
The pause (in milliseconds) between discovery passes.
Once the discovery process completes a sweep of all the specified
addresses, it sleeps for this duration before starting another
sweep.
The default number of times a ping is retried for an
address. If there is no response after the first ping to an address,
it is tried again for the specified number of retries. This retry
count is a default and can be overridden for specific addresses or
sets of addresses that are configured in this file.
The default timeout on each poll. This timeout is a
default and can be overridden for specific addresses or sets of
addresses that are configured in this file.
The default chunk size used to divide up ranges to be discovered by minions. This size determines the individual unit of work a particular discovery job sent to a minion will encompass.
A specific addresses to be polled
The monitoring location where this specific address
will be executed.
The number of times a ping is retried for this
specific address. If there is no response after the first ping
to an address, it is tried again for the specified number of
retries. This retry count overrides the default.
The timeout on each poll for this specific
address. This timeout overrides the default.
A range of addresses to be polled.
Starting address of the range.
Ending address of the range. If the starting
address is greater than the ending address, they are
swapped.
The monitoring location where this include range
will be executed.
The number of times a ping is retried for this
address range. If there is no response after the first ping to an
address, it is tried again for the specified number of retries. This
retry count overrides the default.
The timeout on each poll for this address range. This
timeout overrides the default.
A range of addresses to be excluded from
polling.
Starting address of the range.
Ending address of the range.
The monitoring location where this exclude range
will be excluded.
A file URL holding specific addresses to be polled. Each
line in the URL file can be one of:
"<IP><space>#<comments>", "<IP>", or
"#<comments>". Lines starting with a '#' are ignored and so are
characters after a '<space>#' in a line.
The monitoring location where this include URL
will be executed.
The number of times a ping is retried for
addresses listed in this file. If there is no response after the
first ping to an address, it is tried again for the specified
number of retries. This retry count overrides the
default.
The timeout on each poll for addresses listed in
this file. This timeout overrides the default.
A file URL holding specific addresses to be excluded from being polled. Each
line in the URL file can be one of:
"<IP><space>#<comments>", "<IP>", or
"#<comments>". Lines starting with a '#' are ignored and so are
characters after a '<space>#' in a line.
The monitoring location where this include URL
will be executed.
Definition of detectors and ranges for
the discovery of an IP Address.
Collection of detectors used for discovery of an IP Address.

polling

polled
a file URL holding specific addresses to be excluded from being
polled
The monitoring location where this discovery configuration
will be executed.
The number of times a ping is retried for this
address range. If there is no response after the first ping to an
address, it is tried again for the specified number of retries. This
retry count overrides the default.
The timeout on each poll for this address range. This
timeout overrides the default.

The service name
The class used to perform detection of the service.
